Aurora Publishers is fortunate to have good people helping our company to grow. They are our version of the Muses – the ancient Greek deities who embody literature, arts, crafts with passion and love and inspire our creative process with their graces through our writing, songs and music, fresh and innovative graphic design, useful advice, communication, marketing, computer skills and information technology.

Svetlana Konnikova, MA, studied at Moscow State University, earning a master’s degree in journalism. While residing in the former Soviet Union, she wrote nonfiction books and many award-winning television scripts. Svetlana’s first children’s picture book, Grapette, the Runaway Who Rolled Away, will be available at bookstores nationwide and Canada in September 2007. Children, adults, nature lovers and restless adventurers will find a timeless message of love, home and family in this retelling of an ancient folktale.

Jan Marie Werblin Kemp is our editor. This happy and positive Muse has worked in the publishing industry for more than twenty years. She loves to discover, discuss and help develop our new projects. With great enthusiasm, Jan works on our forthcoming books and makes sure they come to life in a beautiful lace of skillfully crafted words where no small detail is overlooked. She encourages and maintains our authors’ colorful voices, motivating our readers with happy thoughts and constructive ideas.

Anatoli Smishliaev is Aurora Publishers' Artistic Director. He studied fine arts at Moscow Institute of Cinematography. Anatoli has a great passion for creating cartoons, caricatures and children’s books. Most of his career has focused on creating animated films. Anatoli was awarded a Grand Prix at the International Cannes Film Festival for his animated film, Gaidouk. We are delighted and privileged to have Anatoli bring our books to life through his imaginatively rendered whimsical illustrations. His first book for us is Grapette: The Runaway Who Rolled Away.

Yuri Konnikov is responsible for many tasks in sales, marketing and communication. He is an intelligent and innovative man with both great analytical skills and compassion towards others. We think of him as our Prometheus - the young man of myth who went the end of the earth to “steal” the fire from Zeus, giving this light generously to humanity to improve peoples’ lives.

Peri Poloni-Gabriel is one of our graphic designers. With more than twenty-five years of design experience, she has created outstanding designs for hundreds of books, brochures, logos, packaging and other advertising materials. Peri has a background in advertising and studio design and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design from California State University in Long Beach. She brings out our important projects with her sharp eye, rich imagination, great enthusiasm and dedication.

Monica Thomas is also one of our graphic designers. Since graduating with B.A. degree in Communication Design from CSU Chico, Monica has become proficient in all aspects of book design and production. She creates bold graphics and is skilled in communication with customers. Monica is also devoted to excellence and quality.

Kira Lerner is the editor, designer and developer of our websites. She is a tremendous help to our company with her intelligence, creativity and professionalism. Kira runs Falling Sky Productions and publishes the online mystery/romance series About Schuyler Falls and the web magazine EpiGuide; she is also the author of the romance novel Tropical Treasure. Previously Kira worked at CBS Daytime and as a writer/researcher at Carnegie Hall and the N.Y. Philharmonic. Kira has also a background in music performance and will help us to develop musical additions to our books.
